This isn’t exactly rocket science, but when the kids are hungry and yelling for pizza, this quick bread-based snack gets the job done beautifully. It’s one of my go-tos when the boys are in full pizzaholic mode and I want to make something fast, fun, and homemade. When I first told them we could make an “almost pizza” with bread, they were ecstatic, and it’s been a regular request ever since.

It takes just 15–20 minutes from start to finish, and the toppings are totally up to you. Around here, sausage slices are always a hit, and olives are strictly banned (by popular vote). You can keep it classic or mix it up with whatever you have on hand, just don’t be afraid to get creative!

Ingredients

Bread Pizza

    Directions

This is the ultimate low-effort, high-satisfaction snack. It comes together in minutes, uses ingredients you probably already have, and delivers that cheesy, savory pizza flavor the kids crave. Whether you’re making a quick after-school bite or a lazy weekend treat, turn your bread into a pizza-inspired snack that’s fast, fun, and kid-approved.

    Step1

Set the base: Arrange the bread slices on a baking tray in a single layer.

    Step2

Butter and sauce: Spread a thin (very thin) layer of butter over each slice, then generously drizzle or spread tomato ketchup on top.

    Step3

Load the veggies: Add your chopped carrots, onions, green peppers, and sweet corn, and distribute them evenly for a nice bite in every slice.

    Step4

Add the good stuff: Sprinkle a generous layer of grated cheese over the veggies. Then, top with sliced olives (if you’re into them) and chicken frankfurters or sausage slices.

    Step5

A final butter boost: Spoon a little extra butter over the top to help everything crisp up and get golden in the oven.

    Step6

Bake to perfection: Bake at 375°F (Gas Mark 5) for 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and everything looks bubbly and delicious.

    Conclusion

And there you have it! Melty, toasty, veggie-loaded mini pizzas straight from your oven in under 20 minutes. It’s the kind of snack that disappears as fast as you can make it, especially if you’ve got pizza lovers in the house. Serve it hot, and don’t be surprised if it becomes part of your regular rotation.
